About The Prize

The Inner North Art Prize is a community-based and community-funded art prize managed and supported by a group of local residents. Founded in 2016, the aim of the Prize is to connect local artists, art-interested residents and other supporters by creating a significant annual community art event for the Inner North.

Finalists for the Prize will be shown at the Inner North Art Prize Exhibition from Wednesday 14 – Sunday 9 December 2018 at The Front Gallery and Cafe in Lyneham. Works in the exhibition may be offered for sale, at the artist’s discretion.

The Prize is non-acquisitive and consists of a $2,500 cash prize for the winning entrant, a $400 voucher for the People’s Choice Award sponsored by City Framing Gallery, and a $500 cash prize for the Student Prize for emerging artists currently studying visual arts or design.

Why the Inner North Art Prize?

We love living in the Inner North. And we wanted to give something back. So a few like-minded Inner North residents banded together to launch the Inner North Art Prize in 2016.

The main prize will be funded by donations from residents of the Inner North area, and secondary prizes are sponsored by local creative businesses and services. It’s by the community, for the community.

We want to:

  • promote and grow the local art scene.
  • provide a platform to showcase our local artists and their work.
  • have a party.

We hope you will join us.
